Wanchaq District, Cusco, Peru

The Wanchaq District in Cusco, Peru, is one of eight districts that make up the province of Cusco, located in the department of Cusco, under the administration of the Regional Government of Cusco in Peru.
History
The founder and administrator of the district of Wánchaq was Mr. José Ramón Zavaleta Flores. He was the first and second mayor, serving for life.
This district was created by Law No. 12336 of June 10, 1955, during the administration of President Manuel A. Odría.
Geographical Data
The territory of this district covers 6.38 square kilometers and has an altitude of 3,363 meters above sea level.
Population
The district has a population of approximately 60,000 inhabitants.
