CHIMUR HOT SPRINGS

The Chimur Hot Springs are a welcoming tourist attraction that offers a pleasant and relaxing stay. The crystal clear waters range in temperature from 46º to 53º Celsius and are highly recommended for relaxation and stress relief, as they also have beneficial health properties. You can also observe the true flora and fauna of the area, as this place is located on the edge of the jungle.

LOCATION:

The Chimur Thermal Baths are located in the District of Challabamba, Province of Paucartambo, just 59 kilometers from the provincial capital of Paucartambo and 4 hours from the city of Cusco.

ALTITUDE:

The Chimur Hot Springs are located at an altitude of 2820 meters above sea level.

CLIMATE:

The climate in the district of Challabamba (where the Chimur Hot Springs are located) has a lot of rainfall in summer and is quite dry in winter.

When is the best time to visit the Chimur Hot Springs?

The best thing about this tourist attraction is that you can visit it at any time of the year, taking into account the rainy season, which is between November and March.

How to get to the Chimur hot springs?

There are four options for getting to the crystal clear waters of the Chimur hot springs in Paucartambo, Cusco.

OPTION 1: PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

If you decide to travel on your own, it is not highly recommended, especially if you are traveling in a 4×4 truck (low cars), as you will encounter many potholes along the way. The route to take is Cusco-Amparaes-Chimur.

OPTION 2: PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

Another option is to hire private transportation services, keeping in mind that this service must be safe and reliable. We also recommend hiring a 4×4 truck or an off-road motorcycle.

OPTION 3: PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

We can also get there by taking buses/minivans from Cusco to the town of Calca. The cost of transportation from Cusco to Calca is 5.00 soles, then from Calca to the town of Amparaes the cost is 10.00 soles, and finally from Amparaes to the town of Chimur it is also 10.00 soles.

OPTION 4: HIRE A TRAVEL AGENCY

This option is highly recommended, as you will not have to worry about transportation or other services.

There are usually agencies that offer tours to the Chimur hot springs, which include lunch, transportation (round trip), professional guide, entrance fees, etc.

For your safety, it is important to hire a formal and authorized travel agency.

RATES AND OPENING HOURS

The Chimur hot springs can be visited 7 days a week.

Admission to the hot springs for adults is S/4.00 and for children S/2.00.

The thermal baths are open 7 days a week and admission is as follows:
Adults: 10 soles
Children: 5 soles
