How to get to Uyuni from La Paz?

La Paz no longer has a train station; it is located near Oruro. If you want to travel by train, you can take a bus to Oruro in approximately three hours. Taking the train from there is more convenient than taking the bus and is considered safer from accidents. It is important to note that trains do not operate daily like buses or flights. Tickets can be purchased in La Paz or at the Oruro train station.

IMPORTANT: Book train tickets in La Paz before your trip to Oruro.

Buses to Uyuni depart daily and nightly. The trips are nighttime; there are no daytime schedules. The seats are semi-reclining, which is recommended for long trips.The 569 km route is paved.
Some companies use the Potosí route, as the roads along the route are paved. The 12-hour journey takes longer and is less comfortable than the shorter route.

Flights depart from El Alto Airport in La Paz to La Joya Andina Airport in Uyuni. This is the most comfortable and fastest way to travel, but also the most expensive. Amazonas and Boa are the airlines that currently cover this route, and it is one of the most expensive flights offered in Bolivia.
You can pay up to $165 for a 45-minute one-way flight. Foreigners pay a higher rate, so you may be able to find lower rates.
It is possible to take the morning flight and start the tour on the same day, as it begins at 10:00 a.m.
