Cachiche Witch Monument, named after the name of the place, which has long been synonymous with witchcraft.

A Peruvian town, located southeast of Ica, officially known as Santa Rosa de Cachiche,

What is the legend of the Witches of Cachiche?<\/h3>\n

The best-known local legend tells of a group of women with supernatural powers who migrated to Peru from Europe,
\nescaping the Holy Inquisition imposed by the Catholic Church.
\nThey guarded the walls of Cachiche. Supposedly, this mystical ability allowed them to eliminate bodily ills,
\nas well as prepare potions to bewitch people.<\/p>\n

What is the legend of the seven-headed palm tree?<\/h3>\n

It is said that the palm trees emerged as a result of the confrontation between the witch and the octopus guarding the treasure.
\nThe sea waters reached where the current Cristo Rey de Cachiche prison is located, and
\nit is said that the Spanish conquistadors came to rest there and the sea trapped them in its waters,
\nand the treasure they were carrying with them was left in the care of an octopus. The ambitious witch wanted to possess the treasure and unleashed a battle.
\nIn this battle, she managed to cut off six of the octopus’s tentacles, and the octopus killed the witch with its remaining tentacle. However,
\nas the witch lay dying, she recited a curse stating that if the seventh palm tree sprouts,
\nIca will sink completely, turning into a vast lagoon.<\/p>\n

The most famous witch:<\/span><\/h3>\n

According to locals, the most famous and renowned witch was Julia Hern\u00e1ndez Pecho, who died at the age of 106.
\nThey claim she was one of the good ones, that is, a white witch.
\nThe most widely told legend says that the witch predicted that Ica would sink when the seventh head of the palm tree located in the dry lagoon sprouted.
\nAnd the witch was right; Ica was submerged in January 1998. The river overflowed, leaving 90% of the population unclean.
\nSince then, the seventh head of the palm tree has never been allowed to grow to prevent further natural disasters.
\nIt is also said that she cured Don Fernando Le\u00f3n de Vivero’s stutter and predicted that he would become very successful.
\nIn fact, he was an important political leader who even held the Ica Chamber of Deputies.<\/p>\n
