However, due to the large number of travelers who arrive every day, the Peruvian government enforces strict visitor limits to protect the citadel and keep its history alive for years to come.<\/p>\n<p>This means you can&#8217;t just show up without planning. If you&#8217;re thinking about going, there are some important things you should know before buying your ticket and organizing your trip.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Tickets are limited and sell out quickly<\/h3>\n<p>Machu Picchu has a limited daily quota.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it&#8217;s necessary to book in advance, especially during peak season:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>June to August<\/li>\n<li>Holy Week<\/li>\n<li>Christmas and New Year&#8217;s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recommendation:<\/strong> Buy your ticket at least 1\u20132 months in advance.<\/p>\n<h3>2. You can no longer explore freely\u2014there are designated routes.<\/h3>\n<p>Today, there are designated routes, and you must follow only one:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Route 1:<\/strong> Panoramic View (the classic photo)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Route 2:<\/strong> Complete Intermediate Route<\/li>\n<li><strong>Route 3:<\/strong> Lower Route<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Your route is chosen when you purchase your ticket.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It cannot be changed afterward or inside the citadel.<\/p>\n<h3>4. How to get to the entrance gate<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Most travelers spend the night in Aguas Calientes. Visit Duration<\/h3>\n<p>The visit lasts 2 to 3 hours, depending on the route and your pace.<br \/>\nStaying all day is not permitted.<\/p>\n<h3>6.
