Preguntas frecuentes

What is inside the chullpas?

It is a unique cemetery belonging to the Kolla culture where the remains of nobles, rulers and priests of this ancient Aymara kingdom that occupied a large part of what is now southern Peru and the Bolivian altiplano are buried.

How did the chullpas live?

In ancient times lived the Ch’ullpa, beings who built their houses with the doors facing west, where the sun used to rise. One day they decided to change the orientation of the doors of their houses in the opposite direction.

How many types of Chullpa are there?

Square chullpas are the oldest, while round chullpas appear earlier in the Lupaca and Pacaje areas.

The chullpas with masonry stone, appear in the Collas, Lupacas and Pacajes before the Inca conquest (this taking into account the ceramics found in the burials).
