The Classic Inca Trail is one of Peru’s most famous treks, the trail is a total of 45 km / 26 miles long and stretches over four incredible and breathtaking days crossing mountain passes, visiting various Inca archaeological sites and experiencing diverse panoramic views, on the Qhapac Ñan.

Itinerary

Classic Inca Trail

Transfer to Km 82, trekking to Huayllabamba.

Clasic Inca trail

Day 1

We will start with the pick up from the hotel at 6.00am to go to Ollantaytambo, where we will make a stop for breakfast, then we will continue to Km. 82 Piscacucho (2700 masl) place where is the first control.

After about 2 hours of walking we will arrive to Patallacta (2750 masl) Inca archaeological site and will be explained by our guide, after our visit to this interesting place we will have lunch prepared by our experienced cook and his team, after lunch we will continue with our walk to our camp Wayllabamba (3000 m.a.s.l.), where after a well deserved rest we will have lunch and then dinner and then spend the night.

  • Low altitude: 2600 m. / 8228 ft.
  • High altitude: 3000 m. / 9842 ft.
  • Campsite altitude: 3000 m. / 9843 ft.
  • Meals: Lunch and Dinner (Plus afternoon tea and afternoon snack)
  • Lodging: Camping

Hiking to Wayllabamba  and Warmiwañusca

Day 2

In the morning after breakfast we will continue the walk and we will begin to ascend slightly for 9 Km. towards the Warmiwañusca pass (4215 masl) highest point of the Inca Trail, it is a stretch with stairs that makes it even heavier but not impossible, it is recommended to do it without hurry at the pace of each one without concern.

Once we reached the highest point we will begin to descend also by stony stairs. In this section we will be able to appreciate a variety of flora and will have impressive views that make this Inca Trail unique, then we will arrive to our camp Pacaymayo (3600 masl) we will have dinner and then spend the night in that place.

  • Low altitude: 3000 m. / 9842 ft.
  • High altitude: 4215 m. / 13828 ft. (First pass – Warmiwañusca)
  • Campsite altitude: 3000 m. / 9843 ft.
  • Difficulty level: Moderate to challenging
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (Plus afternoon snack and afternoon tea)
  • Lodging: Camping

Trek to Pacaymayo and Wiñayhuayna

Day 3

After a delicious breakfast, on this day we will have a tour of 15 km. With great vegetation and Inca archaeological sites of different functions, the first archaeological site that we will visit will be Runcurakay (3900 m.a.s.l.) which is another Inca archaeological complex in the form of towers that has a strategic surveillance site of this valley. ) which is another Inca archaeological complex in the form of towers that has a strategic site of surveillance of this valley, then continue to Chaquicocha where we will have a deserved lunch

Then continue to Phuyupatamarka (which means place above the clouds), on the route we will pass through a tunnel carved into rock and continue towards Wiñayhuayna another wonderful complex where we will spend the night, the tour is 6 hours full of beautiful scenery, vegetation in Wiñayhuayna. (the third camp may vary to Phuyupatamarca is depending on availability).

  • High altitude: 3900 m. / 12467 ft. (Second pass – Runkuracay)

Machu Picchu Tour and Back to Cusco

Day 4

Early in the morning after breakfast, we will continue the trekking to Machu Picchu, we will pass through the last control and continue to the Inti Punku (sun gate) and then to Machu Picchu and you will have an impressive view of the majesty of the citadel of Machu Picchu, then you will have your guided tour to the place full of history.

Together with the guide you will visit the most important sites of the ancient Inca city, then you can take more pictures and explore the archaeological site and from there return to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch and finally go to the train station to return to the town of Ollantaytambo and from there in our mobility to the city of Cusco.

  • Low altitude: 2040 m. / 6693 ft.
  • High altitude: 2650 m. / 8694 ft.
