Humantay Lagoon is one of the snow-capped mountains in the Vilcabamba mountain range and the glacier melt makes a beautiful lagoon that may be visiting for those who like a little bit of hiking and being in the mountains.
Its emerald waters mix it in a dazzling harmony. Plus this Route is part of the Salkantay Trek, a clasical trek of 4 to 5 days aprox. In wich we walk all the Andean until Machu Picchu.

Itinerary
Humantay Lake Full Day
1
Day 1:
The Humantay Lake Full Day starts At 4:00 a.m. approx, we will pick you up at your reception hotel near the City Centre and accessible streets.
We will depart from Cusco to Mollepata where we will have breakfast.
Then we will continue our tour to Challacancha. The guide will give you further information and explanation on the way
In Challacancha we will start to walk for around 2 hours and 30 minutes to Humantay Lagoon which has an altitude of 4 250 m.s.m. along the way we will appreciate the fauna and flora of the place. We will have enough time to take photos. (You can take horses just to go up on Soraypamapa)
We will descend to the station, to board the mobility towards Challancancha and go back to Mollepata
Once we arrive we will have our delicious Andean Buffet Lunch, in a traditional and colourful restaurant.
Finally, we will come back around 18:00 hrs back to Cusco.

It is located about three hours north of Cusco by car on the Salkantay route.
2.- Should I bring extra water to the Humantay Lagoon Tour?
You should bring an extra water bottle to avoid dehydration.
3.- How mady days do I need to acclimatize before my tour?
We recommend at least 2 days of acclimatization before the tour. You can do some tours near Cusco.
4.- Are meals are included?
Both breakfast and lunch are included in the trek. In adiion we also have vegetarian and vegan options available.

The highest point during the trek is 4200 meters above sea level.
6.- About health and safety
Although our guides carry first aid kits, it is recommended that you bring your own personal medication for personal use. We also suggest that you consult your doctor before booking this tour.
7.- Best time to go to Humantay Lagoon
The best time to visit is in dry season, to clarify the city of Cusco has 2 types of weather:
- First: Rainy season that oscillates between the months of December to March.
- Second: Dry season that oscillates between the months of April to November.
