Salkantay Trek 3 Days 2 Nights Tour Summary
- DAY 1: CUSCO – QUISARNIYOC – SALKANTAY PASS – CHAWLLAY
- DAY 2: CHAULLAY – SANTA TERESA – HIDROECETRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES.
- DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Itinerary
Cusco – Quisarniyoc – Paso Salkantay – Chawllay
Day 1
- Early start at your hotel in Cusco. We pick you up at 3:00 in the morning to transfer you to Soraypampa.
- It will be approximately 3 hours drive to Soraypampa, which is the place where the trek begins.
- Once in Soraypampa, you will join the Salkantay group for breakfast and then prepare for the 20 kilometer hike.
- Around 6:30 a.m., you start walking to the highest point of the entire Salkantay trail 4630 m.
After 3 hours of hiking. - We will arrive at the top to celebrate and enjoy beautiful views of the Salkantay mountain once at the top you have the opportunity to make an offering for the APUS (Andean gods).
- We start walking downhill to get 2900 m / 9510 ml in all 15 km of downhill trekking.
- It will be done in two sections, the first section will be from the top to the lunch point.
- After lunch, 3 more hours to the second camp called Chawllay.
- On the way, you will appreciate the different types of landscapes, such as glacier mountains, lagoons, rocky mountains, grassy hills, when you are near the camp you will be in the jungle area.
- Once at the camp, relax if you wish, you can enjoy cold beers while the cooks make the time and delicious dinner.
Chaullay – Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes
Day 2
- On the second day, you will already be in the jungle area. We wake you up around 6:00 a.m. with a cup of coca tea, then we offer you a delicious breakfast.
- At 7:00 a.m., the hike to Sahuayaco beach begins for approximately 5 hours along the Santa Teresa Valley, which is formed by the Salkantay River.
- You have the opportunity to see plantations such as coffee, bananas, avocados, coca, passion fruit and much more.
- After the five hour hike you will arrive at La Playa Sahuayaco, from where you will take local transportation for one hour to Santa Teresa, where you will stop for lunch.
- You will continue by car 45 minutes more to Hidroeléctrica and then you will walk 3 hours more train tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes on the flat road.
- Then we take you to the hotel to shower and relax, in the evening around 7:00 pm.
Machu Picchu – Cusco
Day 3
- On the last day of the tour, you will visit Machu Picchu.
- You should wake up around 4:00 a.m. to prepare for the hike to the main entrance of Machu Picchu.
- After taking your breakfast packet.
We will start walking to the Puente Ruinas checkpoint for 30 minutes, which is open at 5:00 a.m. - The first checkpoint, you will walk up all the stairs for an hour to the main gate of Machu Picchu to be there around 6:00 am.
- Once everyone is at the gate you will enter Machu Picchu for the guided tour.
- After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore on your own.
