Sillustani is an important archaeological site located on the peninsula jutting into Lake Umayo , near the city of Puno, in the Peruvian highlands. It is famous for its chullpas , ancient funerary towers built by the Colla culture and later used by the Incas as burial sites for nobles and leaders. It is located approximately 34 km northeast of Puno , at about 3,900 m above sea level . The site sits beside Lake Umayo , a tranquil lake that provides a stunning and panoramic natural setting.
