The Carhuacocha Lagoon is a natural attraction due to its great importance. It is located in the Huayhuash Mountain Range. It is an ideal trekking route for people who love adventure sports.

It is located in the small town of Incahuaín (4,140 m.a.s.l.), district of Queropalca, province of Lauricocha, department of Huánuco.

¿How to get to Laguna Carhuacocha?

From Huánuco

From the department of Huánuco we must head towards the district of Queropalca, passing by the Lauricocha lagoon and after 12 hours of travel arrive at Queropalca, which belongs to the province of Lauricocha. The entrance to the Cordillera de Huayhuash route is paid at an entrance fee of S/. 20.00 for Peruvian tourists and S/. 40.00 for foreigners.

To reach Laguna Carhuacocha, you must walk 10 km. Good physical endurance is required, as the hike is moderate to challenging. Once you reach the lagoon, you can choose to climb to the viewpoint of the three lagoons (4,550 m above sea level), which is a 7 km hike.

Activities to be carried out within the Tourist Resource

Observation of landscapes and snow-capped mountains of the Huayhuash Mountain Range (El Carnicero, Siula Grande, Yerupajá Grande, Yerupajá Chico and Jirishanca).

Favorable time to visit the Tourist Resource

It is recommended to visit between the months of May and September, due to the lower rainfall. It is also advisable to acclimatize at least one day before hiking to Laguna Carhuacocha.
