Chancos Hot Springs
These baths are located in the district of Marcará, province of Carhuaz, Ancash region, 27 km north of Huaraz and at an altitude of over 2,600 meters above sea level. They are also surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of Copa and Hualcán, which offer impressive views.
These waters are a traditional resource due to their bicarbonate, calcium, and chloride components, and are highly recommended for people with respiratory, rheumatic, or skin problems. The waters that emanate vary from 68°C to 74°C, however, to make them suitable for visitors to bathe in, they are tempered from 33°C to 48°C.
How to get to the Chancos Hot Springs from Huaraz?
- First, we must travel from Huaras to Marcará, which is approximately a 30-minute trip covering a distance of 28 km. Once there, we take a 3.5 km road to the hot springs, which takes approximately 15 minutes by car.
