Yanazara Hot Springs
Location
The Yanazara Hot Springs are located on the banks of the Curgos River, in the rural community of Francisco Pinillos Montoya, Curgos district, Sánchez Carrión province, La Libertad department.
Origin
The word Yanazara comes from the Quechua words Yana = Black and Zara = Corn, meaning Black Corn.
Altitude
The hot springs are located at an altitude of 2,480 meters above sea level.
Temperature
The waters reach a temperature of 40°C to 45°C.
Importance
The waters contain iron sulfates and are rich in minerals such as sodium chloride, calcium, sodium sulfate, and iron, among others. These minerals are conducive to the development of medical tourism.

How to get to the Yanazara Hot Springs
TRUJILLO – HUAMACHUCO
From Trujillo, head to block 13, Av. Cesar Vallejo, where you will find agencies that operate the Trujillo – Huamachuco route. Buses leave every 4 hours, the ticket price starts at S/ 25.00, and the journey time is approximately 4 hours.
HUAMACHUCO – YANAZARA
The Yanazara hot springs are located 25 km from the province of Huamachuco. To get there, you must go to the Sausacocha y Curgos bus stop located on Av. 10 de Julio and Florencia de Mora, where you can find buses and minivans that will take you to Yanazara for S/ 6.00. The trip takes approximately one hour.
During the trip, we will pass through places such as Saucacocha, Olichoco, Yanac, Paso Potrerillo, and Anamuelle.

The hot springs are open to the public Monday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

When to visit the Yanazara hot springs?
You can visit the hot springs throughout the year. We identify clear seasons: the rainy season runs from December to April, during which we do not recommend visiting due to the presence of rain. The sunny season runs from May to December, and we recommend traveling between these months as there are more sunny days.
