Summary

Colca Canyon Tour 2D/1N starts with the pick up from your hotel and then we will go to the first stop Pampa Cañahuas where we can see the Vicuña, then we will continue through Patahuasi to reach Vizcachani where we will observe the llama and alpaca, then we will go through Toccrapampa, then we will reach the highest point where we can have an incredible view of the Cordillera Volcanica del Sur in Patapampa, finally we will arrive in Chivay where we will spend the night.

The second day after breakfast we will go to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint from where we will observe the majestic condors, we will also pass by the viewpoint of Antahuilque from where you can observe a system of Inca terraced cultivation, then we will have time for lunch and return to Arequipa, in the course we can observe the natural landscape.

Itinerario

Arequipa – Pampa Cañahuas – Patapampa – Chivay

Day 1

  Colca Canyon Tour 2D/1N starts departing from Arequipa 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on the road to Yura, we will observe the Chachani volcano and make our first stop at Pampa Cañahuas from where we will observe part of the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca and the other side of the volcanoes of Arequipa.

There we will be able to appreciate especially the Vicuña, the South American camelid with the finest fiber in the textile market.

  We will continue until we reach Patahuasi, here it is recommended to drink a mate de Coca or Chachacoma very good for altitude sickness because from here we will begin to ascend visiting Vizcachani where we can appreciate the llama and alpaca.

  Then Toccrapampa, from where we will observe wetlands with high Andean birds.

  We will arrive to Patapampa, the highest point located at 4,910 m.a.s.l. to appreciate all the southern volcanic mountain range as the Ampato where the Ice Lady “Juanita” was found; next to it we will see the Sabancaya and the Hualca Hualca.

  We will continue until we reach Chivay to have lunch after an exciting trip.

  We will settle in our hotel and then visit the thermal baths of Yanque, thermo-medicinal waters good for rheumatism and arthritis.
 We will stay there for about an hour.

Returning to Chivay we will have our dinner where we can enjoy the folkloric show in which the dances are exhibited.

 Overnight in Chivay

Yanque – Cruz del Condor viewpoint – Maca – Chivay – Arequipa

Day 2

  05:30 am. Breakfast at the hotel.

  06:00 am. Departure to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor. On the way we will make our first stop in the town of Yanque to appreciate the Wititi dance.

We will arrive at Cruz del Condor, arriving approx. at 8:00 am. Recommended time to observe the majestic flight of the condors.

 We will walk along the canyon with the guide for 40 minutes and enjoy the scenery for another hour.

  Later we will start the return to the town of Chivay stopping in different villages where we will appreciate the colonial architecture.
 We will arrive at the Antahuilque viewpoint, where we will be able to appreciate the enchanted lagoons, so called because of the change of color during the day due to the presence of algae.

Then we will arrive to Chivay and we will have time for lunch.

 Then we will continue our return to the city of Arequipa arriving approx. 4:30 pm.
