Day 1: Welcome to Tambopata!

Experience the magic of Tambopata at Collpas Tambopata Inn. After a bus and boat ride from Puerto Maldonado, you will arrive at this charming lodge surrounded by nature. Enjoy spacious rooms with all the amenities, delicious food and guided activities, such as climbing an observation tower for bird watching. In the evening, venture on an exciting boat ride on the Tambopata River to observe black and white caimans. An unforgettable getaway in the Peruvian jungle awaits you.

Day 2: Getting to know the colorful macaw clay lick

In the Amazon, we take advantage of the first light of day to immerse ourselves in wildlife activity. Our lodge, located near the famous Tambopata clay lick, allows us to witness the fascinating spectacle of macaws, parrots and parakeets. Guided by our experts, we will identify the species both in the river and in the clay lick, using binoculars and telescopes. This experience gives us the unique opportunity to witness one of nature’s most impressive spectacles.

On the way back to the lodge, there is a high probability (40%) of spotting the majestic jaguar along the banks of the Tambopata River. In the afternoon, we will enjoy an exciting kayak ride along the river, a different perspective to admire nature from the water. After dinner, we will venture on a night walk through the jungle, where the sounds of nature and nocturnal creatures will provide an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Lake Quiroz the natural habitat.

Today we will explore the Tambopata National Reserve, arriving at the beautiful Quiroz Lake, home to a variety of wildlife. Here, we will have the opportunity to spot the Shansho, a prehistoric bird known for its medicinal properties, as well as caimans, kingfishers and other species. If we are lucky, we may even see a family of otters, which are difficult to spot. In addition, we will be able to appreciate the difference between the ecosystems of a lake and a river, and, who knows, maybe we will be lucky enough to see macaws flying over the trees. In the afternoon, we will enjoy sport fishing in the Tambopata River, with the possibility of enjoying a delicious dinner prepared by our chef with whatever we manage to catch.

Day 4: Mammal clay licks and chestnut forests.

Depending on the flight schedule we will venture on a 2 to 4 hour hike through the lush primary rainforest, exploring its diverse wildlife. We will have the opportunity to spot a variety of monkeys, birds and mammals, such as tapir, capybara, deer and other fascinating animals. Our expert guides will share information about the rich biodiversity of the jungle and also about medicinal plants, including the famous Ayahuasca, a plant of great cultural and medicinal importance in the Amazon region. This jungle experience will allow you to immerse yourself in nature and discover the fascinating life that inhabits this unique ecosystem.
