The city of Cusco is at an altitude of 3399 meters above sea level, so it is a good option to be familiar with the change of altitude, the climate in Cusco is varied, it is defined mainly in two seasons: dry season (April-October) and rainy season (November – March).

City tour in Cusco, is a half day tour in which we visit several tourist sites, we started with a visit to the temple of Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) besides being a religious place was also where the Inca political, economic and administrative power was concentrated, where we can see several enclosures including:

  • The enclosure of the Rainbow
  • Room of the Sacrifices
  • The enclosure of the Ray

During the tour, we will visit the ceremonial fountain, the sacred alley, and the sacred gardens before arriving at the impressive Sacsayhuamán Fortress, known for its massive perfectly fitted stones and panoramic views. We will then continue to Q’enqo, an ancient Inca ceremonial site, followed by Puca Pucara, a military fortress built with reddish stones. Finally, we’ll explore Tambomachay, a sacred site dedicated to the worship of water, showcasing the Incas’ advanced hydraulic engineering through its canals and fountains.

Itinerary

 First we start with the pick up from your respective hotel near the historic center of Cusco, for this case we have two shifts: morning shift and afternoon shift, if you want to make the tour in the morning shift pickups are made at 8:00 am approx., if you choose the afternoon shift pickups are at 13:00 pm. It is worth mentioning that the tour has a duration of 5 hours approx.

We start the trip, our first point to visit is the Temple of Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), in this place we will have a guided tour for about an hour, then we go to the archaeological center of Sacsayhuaman (Imposing example of Inca military architecture).

 Continuing with the excursion we will visit the archaeological center of Qenqo, this is a ritual center built on a unique limestone rock outcrop.

Later we will visit the red fortress of PukaPukara where the reddish color and the military construction of this place is characterized and finally we will go to the fortress of Tambomachay which is characterized by having a main fountain which is known as ¨the baths of the Inca¨.

Finally we return to the city of Cusco, our transportation service will leave us near the historic center (Plateros street), approximate arrival is at 18:30 hrs.
