Summary
The tour begins with the departure from Cusco to Puno, where we will board the tourist bus to La Paz and then to Uyuni. We will be able to appreciate the old locomotives today known as the train cemetery, we will visit the largest salt desert in the world called the Salar de Uyuni, we will also have a stop at the Salt Hotel Playa Blanca and finally a walk on the Incahuasi Island. At the end of the activity we will return to the town of Uyuni.

Day 1
The Salar de Uyuni Tour from Cusco starts with the pick up from the Hotel in Cusco and transfer to the bus terminal in Cusco.
Transfer by tourist bus from Cusco – Puno (departure 22:00 Hrs )-(arrival 5:00 hrs am).
Puno – La Paz – Uyuni

Day 2
Transfer at the bus terminal in Puno.
Transfer by tourist bus from Puno – La Paz (arrival 14:00 Hrs).
Afternoon free, you can visit the city of La Paz and El Alto.
Transfer by tourist bus from La Paz – Uyuni (Departure 20:00 Hrs), arrival the next day 05:00Hrs.
Uyuni – Uyuni Salt Flat

Day 3
Pick up at the bus terminal in Uyuni, we will take you to a cafeteria where you can have breakfast on your own.
Pick up at 10:30 am from the cafeteria.
We will go to the train cemetery to see the old locomotives.
Then we will visit the community of Colchani (the gateway to the Salar) where we will find rustic handicraft workshops and the rustic micro-processor of table salt.
Continuing with the expedition to the majestic Salar, we will make stops to see salt extractions, salt eyes and the salt hotel Playa Blanca which currently only functions as a museum.
Later we will visit the most popular island of the Salar located in the middle of the Salar, the Incahuasi Island where we will hike and we will be able to appreciate large extensions of cactus, sea rock fossils and spectacular 360° views from the viewpoint.
At the end of our tour, we head to the town of Uyuni.

4. Is it mandatory to hire a tour and can I go on my own?
It is not mandatory but highly recommended. You must take into account that there are hardly any indications on the road and the Salar is the perfect place to get lost since there are hardly any visual references and it has 10,500 square kilometers of extension. The risks of getting stranded in the rainy season if you do not know the terrain are also very high. In any case you will need a 4×4 vehicle.
