Pacaya Samiria Reserve

The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is a vast protected area that encompasses tropical rainforests and meandering rivers. During the tour, visitors can explore the reserve’s rich biodiversity, which includes numerous species of flora and fauna, such as pink dolphins, manatees, exotic birds and medicinal plants.

The tour usually includes boat rides on the rivers, walks along jungle trails and visits to local communities, where you can learn about indigenous culture and sustainable practices.

Itinerario

Pacaya Samiria Reserve

First contact with the Amazon

Pick up from the airport or hotel in Iquitos.
Transfer to the village of San Joaquin de Omaguas, one of the oldest villages in the area.
Then we will go to the port of Nauta.
We will have a brief stop at Fundo Causal where you will see species of flora and fauna.
Arrival at the lodge and distribution of your rooms.

Lunch
We will continue with a sustainable activity in which you will be able to choose (plant a tree or a plant).
To finish, we will have a short tour of the Ecotrail where you will be able to see 10 species of flora.
At the end the guide will talk about the myths and legends of the Amazon.

Pacaya Samiria Reserve Expedition

We will start with breakfast
 To begin our day’s adventure we will head to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
The first stop will be in the community of Veinte de Enero where you will be able to appreciate how the locals manage their resources and what they do to preserve the species.
 Lunch
Then we will go to the area of Nauta Caño in this tour we will search for pink and gray dolphins.
We will continue navigating along the river where we will observe an incredible vegetation and you will be able to appreciate how the river reflects the sky perfectly, for this reason it is known as “The Jungle of Mirrors”.

Pacaya Samiria Reserve Expedition

Exploration in the Restiga Forest

We will start with a walk following the primate’s route through the restinga forest.
We will continue with our breakfast.
Then we will hike through the Ecolodge reserve where the more adventurous will be put to the test.
  We will continue with the tour where we will have the possibility to make Eco Trail of fauna which will allow you to have more knowledge about the 6 species in the area, through the narration.
Lunch
We will continue with the adventure through the Reserva Privada Bosque de Restiga to set up the tents.
Dinner
Finally, we will go on a short excursion to observe nocturnal fauna.

Search for exotic animals

Breakfast

 We will start with a short walk in search of animals or we will do another activity.

Then we will dismantle the tents to return to the lodge.

 Lunch

Transfer to the lodge where we will observe incredible landscapes and sightings of exotic fauna.

 Dinner

Visit to local communities / handicrafts

 Breakfast

 We will start with a boat excursion on the Marañon River.

We will continue with an activity (artisanal fishing).

Lunch.

You will visit the community of San Jorge and the center of women artisans where you will be able to obtain handicrafts and learn a little of their experience.

 We will finish with the embarkation to the port of Nauta, from there we will transfer to Iquitos.

We will end this adventure with a transfer to the airport or your hotel.
