Summary

Andean Wedding in the Sacred Valley

Rural Community Tourism Cusco, an alternative for visitors with a strong interest in traditions, customs, learning about the daily life of local communities and making a direct connection by practicing their traditions. One of the most outstanding experiences is the Andean marriage in Umasbamba, Chinchero. This sacred ritual symbolizes a pact with Pachamama and the Apus, guiding the lovers in their union and providing a deep connection with the Andean culture.

Getting married is more than signing a certificate or walking down the aisle. For some couples, joining in marriage is sealing a spiritual bond that transcends the visible, and when the soul seeks something deeper, the Andean marriage becomes a ceremony full of magic and ancestral energy. This millenary rite does not follow western protocols; here love is celebrated under the gaze of the sun and the moon, in front of the Pachamama, the Apus of the mountains, the fire, the water and the wind, who become sacred witnesses of a union that not only involves hearts, but also spirits.

The Andean priest, with respect and wisdom leads the rituals that may include energetic cleansings, offerings to the earth, reading of coca leaves and the exchange of symbolic gifts or gold and silver rings. Everything is done with intention and deep respect, enveloped by the sound of Andean music from the pututo, the quena or the zampoña, marking a rhythm that connects with the most ancient part of the being. In this celebration there are no spectators, everyone is part of it.
