Private Guided Tour to Colored Mountain and Red Valley

Private Guided Tour to Colored Mountain and Red Valley

Summary

Colored Mountain and Red Valley

On the Private Guided Tour Colored Mountain and Red Valley, also known as Vinicunca or “Mountain of Seven Colors”, is one of the most emblematic destinations of Cusco, Peru and an experience that every visitor must live. Located at an altitude of more than 5,200 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), Vinicunca offers breathtaking scenery and one of the most amazing natural wonders of the Peruvian Andes.

There are several routes to get there, but the main one is through the town of Cusipata, located 3 hours away from Cusco, in the direction of the South Valley. This route will allow you to enjoy the panoramic beauty of the Andean geography, surrounded by mountains, valleys and unique landscapes. The local inhabitants tell that, decades ago, the Vinicunca Mountain was covered with snow, but due to climate change, the snow disappeared and exposed this incredible tourist attraction, revealing the vibrant stripes of colors that today make it famous.

It is important to acclimatize in Cusco for a few days before the trek, as the trek is demanding due to the high altitude. The mountain climate is cold, with temperatures ranging from 0°C to 15°C, and during the hike, it is possible to experience a slight lack of oxygen due to the high altitude. Therefore, it is advisable to be prepared to enjoy the experience in a safe and pleasant way.
