The good:We saw everything listed on the itinerary Our guide was friendly and enthusiastic People on the tour were from Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Norway and the United States. The bad:Our tour was listed as 9 to 10 hours but instead was 12 1/2. We had extra stops at a textile tourist shop, a touristy shop with salt related products and a touristy silver shop. Our van had small windows compared to other operators (I did a few trips from Cusco - all more professional and comfortable)The van was comfortable for my 6 foot body - knees crammed into the seat in front back sore for bending down to see out the windows. I had a hotel pickup and was given a time to meet the day before. This was then changed that same day after 6pm to an earlier time. And then in the morning I was asked via a WhatsApp message to meet at a different hotel a few blocks away as our street was narrow. Our tour guide spoke English, mostly Spanish and some Portuguese. This meant everything was repeated in each language. And the English was often had to understand. At lunch we were divided for reasons I don’t understand between two restaurants- the one I was in had room for everyone and more. Climber076620118922024-12-19Verificada Excellent experience! Definitely recommend using this tour company. I and my husband arrived Cusco the night before and we booked in the afternoon.. They responded very fast and organized way. Their communication was spot on. We were running late for pick up and Alex, our guide, was super kind and accommodating. The breakfast/lunch place was good for the fact it's middle of nowhere! Since we didn't acclimated to high altitude, we struggled from the beginning. When we got to the lake, he was running around to make sure our group will get together for photos. I loved the way he explained their culture. On our way down, even though we were the last ones from the group, Alex was very helpful and patient with us. He always answer any stupid questions and made sure everyone has good pictures... and shared all the pictures of us he took. I would definitely hire them when we go back next time. The price was great! service was amazing... what else can you ask more? Our team name was "sexy Alex" and we had so much fun!! Thank you for everything, Alex! I'm pretty sure you are a super human since you were running up and down without getting out of breath! Allan Obed H2024-12-16Verificada Good work to humantay Great experience with Milton and Willy to rich humantay Lake. They were well prepared and very professional. Good job! Tommy T2024-12-16Verificada Well organized, fun guide Incredible value for money. Very well organized trek. Though the pickup is early it helps you get the BEST photos because you get to Humantay around 10AM before the crowds come!! Breakfast and lunch are on a tight schedule but it helps squeeze in this adventure into one day. Our guide Yonathan was fun, energetic, and professional. Looking forward to more adventures in the future! We booked three day-tours in Cusco on TripAdvisor and all three ended up being with this company. They were great with communication, guides were knowledgeable and experienced, and the tours were great value for money, very well organised and exactly as advertised. I would recommend. It was one of the most highly rated tours for Rainbow Mountain. We were happy we could experience this wonderful nature however, our experience as tourist was the worst we ever had. Firstly, for breakfast we were gathered in one restaurant serving buffet with around 15 other groups of around 20 people each, making it a huge and chaotic crowd. By the time we queued to get food it was already gone and the stuff could not keep up with refilling the buffet. Secondly, when we arrived to the entrance to the Rainbow Mountain we were told by the guide (HEBERT "forever" ) that there is an entrance fee of 25 soles for international tourist and 15 soles for national tourist. This money will be collected at the end of our tour. We didn't suspect anything since the company who rans the tour sent us in advance the guidelines of what to bring and 30 soles for entrance tickets in cash was stated there (see picture). Once we finished our beautiful hike and on our way to the restaurant we were stopped by the local police. This police officer entered the bus and told us if we by any chance were told to pay any entrance tickets, we replied that not yet but we will be charged at the restaurant on our way back. To our surprise the police told us that there IS NO ENTRANCE FEE TO THE RAINBOW MOUNTAIN and that we shouldn't pay any extra money. We were shocked. The tour agency tried to SCAM US ALL AND LIED TO OUR FACES MULTIPLE TIMES. To put the cherry on top, once after almost being scammed and going down the mountain one wheel from the bus detached and went down the clift when the bus was taking the turn. We were very scared and immediately left the bus. The driver and tour guide started to fix this, but lacked the tools. Only when other bus were descending, they stopped to helped us. From that moment our driver stopped several times to readjust the new wheel. We would like to warn all the tourist planning to go to the Rainbow Mountain to beware of the scam and dishonest guides. A very bittersweet experience for us. Katharina Gocht2024-09-11Trustindex verifica que la fuente original de la reseña sea Google. I booked a Rainbow Mountain Tour w/ Chullos Travel through Viator. They ruined an otherwise amazing experience at Rainbow Mountain. 1) We were not picked up at our hotel. The previous day, we got a message saying pick-up is between 4:40 - 5:00 am. At 4:10 am, we received a call asking that they're picking us up in 10 mins. We asked to be picked up at 4:30 as we needed some time to prepare for the hike. By 4:30, we were outside with pick-up nowhere to be seen. We waited for 20mins before they called us to meet them at Plaza De Armas, 15 mins away instead. I spoke with other guests in our bus and some were picked up, some were not. 2) Not enough walking sticks for the hike. There were 18 guests in the tour but there were only 12 walking sticks. I wouldn't typically mind this but when you're hiking at 5,200m altitude, the same altitude as Mt. Everest base camp, you'd need all the help you can get. 3) The driver sped down the mountain, twisting and turning, causing a guest to vomit the moment we got to the lunch spot. Other guests lost their appetite as they too felt car sickness after the ride down Rainbow Mountain itself is well worth going to. But do yourselve a favor and book the tour with someone else. My husband and I originally booked two tours while in Peru with Chullos Tours, but after our experience with 7 Lakes Ausangate we cancelled our second tour because of how terrible our experience was. Oh and it was not refunded even though we had such an awful tour, they did nothing to compensate or apologies for how terrible our experience was on the first tour. Instead we were charged full price for both tours, including the one we cancelled. Let me break things down: The guide: I’m not sure why they call it a guided tour? Our guide barely spoke to us, he maybe said 20 words to us the entire time from 4:40am to 7:30pm. We literally learned nothing or received any kind of communication around anything. We never knew what was going on, what to expect, how long we’d be in the van, or received any kind of information. We additionally had many unfortunate mishaps that occurred and would have felt much better if communication would have been provided. Instead we were left in silence guessing what was going on. The van: yikes! Our van broke down about an hour from Pucchanta. There was initially no communication about what was going on. The 10 of us just sat in the van with no idea of what was happening for at least 30 min. Finally our “guide” told us the van broke down and they were trying to get another one. Again about 30 minutes goes by until another passenger finally asks what is going on and we were told another van would be there in 30 min. Our driver and “guide” then walked off down the road leaving us all in the van and again said nothing to any of us. This could have been an opportunity to teach us all something about the area, the Incas, etc. to help pass time and keep us all engaged. Instead we received no communication and overall everyone was getting very irritated by this point. Finally 3 local taxis came to take us the rest of the way, again almost no communication. Simply told us to get into one of the cars. Cramped ride for an hour. A ride in silence I may add. No information or communication from the guide. The hike: as I mentioned previously our “guide” told us nothing along the way. There was no structure. We all kind of just went at our own pace. I was very envious of the other groups whose guide would stop to wait for everyone and then provide and explanation or information. We received none of that. Another issue was that because our van broke down I had a backpack that I was told I could leave in the van and not have to take on the hike. Well no van, meant I had to lug a lot of stuff with me on the hike I didn’t intend to. Not ideal as this is a semi difficult hike. The self guided hike was amazing, the views did not disappoint. Definitely do the 7 lakes excursion, but book with a different company for a more pleasant experience. The drive back: I informed the guide I would need a restroom break, as I could not make it 3.5hrs without a bathroom. The guide told me that we would stop at after 2hrs of driving. This stop never happened. Instead, again with zero communication, our van was pulled over and detained by the police for something. We all sat in silence again without being told anything about what was going on. So after the van break down and this mishap with the police I understand the guide was trying to make up time, but when a passenger explicitly tells you that they need a bathroom and you refuse to stop this was completely unacceptable. Also, super odd we then made another stop once in Cusco, again with no communication. We stopped at some kind of transit station where the guide left the van and returned 10 minutes or so later and put a mattress in the back of the van. My frustration just grew with these odd stops, but yet I was unable to use a bathroom. Overall, I would advise booking with another company.
