Pachamanca in Umasbamba Community, the Pachamanca is a special event that brings together family, friends and neighbors to celebrate important occasions such as weddings, festivals and religious holidays. The process begins with the preparation of a variety of fresh, local ingredients, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, pork, chicken and guinea pig, which are seasoned with aromatic herbs and wrapped in banana leaves.

Once the ingredients are ready, a hole is dug in the ground and a layer of hot stones is placed at the bottom. Then the meats and vegetables are added, followed by another layer of hot stones. Finally, everything is covered with banana leaves and left to cook slowly for several hours, allowing the flavors to mingle and intensify.
